As a college student, do i really need an ipad2?

I am a college student finishing my associates degree, with 2 more semesters to go. I have researched about e-textbooks & alternatives to paper-books. I am deciding whether or not I should get the ipad 2; I have a MacBook Pro, a Windows 7 lenovo, & plan to get the iphone 5. Any suggestions? I've played around with the ipad in stores & it is a VERY appealing gadget (i tend to be a tech-geek person). I have also read about very useful apps for students, which are also available on the iphone. I'm really using the excuse of the textbooks; it would be a bit cheaper than renting them from chegg or buying them. Your comments/suggestions would be REALLY APPRECIATED, thank you!
Well I asked my bf to get it for me for my birthday, which is in August, & I am not asking for a brand new one, a refurbished one is fine. I know I am looking for excuses to buy it but the scales are starting to shift!

Just keep renting for a couple more years till there are many other cheaper types of eReaders and services for those types of textbooks.

Currently, the technology isn't good enough to replace the old textbook, highlighter, and pen combinations. Once software (or an app) is developed where you can manipulate the eTextbooks with margin notes, dog ears, highlights, etc... only then will the purchase of an iPad2 or others be worth it (for eTextbooks)

Just keep Chegg'n it :)

Mobile Phones are the Best Miniature Gadgets

Mobile phones are gaining worldwide popularity as the most handy gadget for communication. Today there are more mobile phone users than a few decades back. Phones today are like mini-computers with capabilities like digital cameras, Internet browsers, music players, calculators and alarm clocks.

Also the recent 3G phones enable wireless connectivity and high-speed access to Internet. Many of the new generation phones like Nokia N-Series, HTC Touch etc., are embedded with document viewers that support viewing of various office documents, such as PDF, Word, Excel etc. This application incorporated in the phones makes it a suitable companion for the professional users who want to continue their official works while on the go-- from checking documents and mails to staying connected with colleagues.

Initially, mobile phones were not that advanced and sophisticated. Moreover these gadgets were so expensive that only the rich and the elite could purchase. But, today with many phone manufacturers, network providers and merchants creeping into the market the competition among them is also taking a serious turn, thereby making phones available in quite affordable price. Some popular network providers like T, Orange, Vodafone, Virgin, O2 etc., along with manufactures and merchants are coming up with many innovative ideas to help people purchase phones easily.

As an outcome, various cheap mobile phone deals, including 12 months free line rental, Pay as you go etc., have been introduced in the market. These deals brings along with them a wide array of advantages, including free handsets, free talktime, cashback options, other incentives and a variety of free gifts. Often this deal gives latest handsets completely for free, which would have been very expensive otherwise.

Today's market is more consumer-centric. Most mobile phones are manufactured according to the changing consumer trends. In deals like Pay as you go mobile phones, users can restrict their phone usage and expenditures. So is 12 months free contract, where users are exempted from paying monthly bills for a certain period.

Thus with a variety of deals and mobile phones type available in the market, communication has become easier as well as cheap. Whether you want to listen to music or watch video, make a call or send an e-mail, capture a memorable moment or play games, a modern day mobile phone can give you all in a single platform. Perhaps that is what makes mobile phones the best miniature gadget.

where can i buy a handy size scope for kw hour meter reading use?

i'm a meter reader of an electric kw meter. some of our meters are so high that are not clearly visible. we need a gadget like a scope (i'm not familiar with the difference between a telescope and a binocular). better if it's a mono-scope with a clear visible range up to 5 meters. it is not the meter itself that we are after to view but the NUMERICAL DIGITS READING of the meter.
we need at least 40 units of reasonable price. thank you very much

I'm looking for a useful gadget to give someone for a bike trip?

Hey!! So to all the athletic bikers out there, I am looking to give my ex a present before he goes on this epic (pedal) bike trip across Canada. I don't want it to be too sentimental or anything like that-- and it has to be small because he won't be able to carry a lot, and also preferably something that will come in handy while he's away? I'm lost, I've never actually been that into biking so I don't know what to look for but i want him to know that I'm thinking about him.

Obviously no one on here knows him, but the type of gift I'm looking for is something practical so all suggestions are welcome, thanks!

First thing that pops into mind (if he doesn't already have one) is a bike computer. Small, affordable, useful, etc. They tell the bike's speed, average speed, distance covered that trip, total distance, time of day, total time ridden that day. And that's just the cheap ones.

More expensive ones can tell cadence (the rider's rpm on the crank). They even have ones with built in GPS. Now that's getting a bit too much.

If he's already got a cycle computer, how about a pair of good padded cycling shorts or a cool jersey? Nice of you to give the "ex" something. I once fixed up a bike bought from craigslist & GAVE it to my ex-wife. She never did appreciate it. See link below from Amazon.com in the USA. I imagine you have your own Canadian version up north.

I want windows sidebar to show up every time i log in without me having to press the sidebar button. Does anyone know how, or know if it's even possible?

Right click on the sidebar button in the tray and it should have an option to load on startup. Failing that, press the Windows key and R to open up the Run command dialog, type 'msconfig' without quotes, press Enter, and under the Startup tab find sidebar.exe and click the checkbox next to it. Save and restart, and it should appear automatically.
