Can anyone give advice to help select a new digital camera to buy?

I have a Kodak DX7630 EasyShare and were very pleased with the results. I'm looking to get a better digital camera that I can "play" with more. I take pictures of my family. I'm thinking of buying a SLR camera, the Canon Rebel XTi possibly or simply going to move more Kodak EasyShare Z812. Any suggestions or comments?

As fhotoace words, the sensor size is very important in image quality. Believe it or not, your current camera (DX7630) a sensor cameras are point and shoot, and the Z812 has a small sensor. It might actually be a step backwards in quality image "enhancement" of this super-zoom camera. As long as you have on the table, I would say that the update you are sensitive to the Rebel XTi Canon. Yes, there is much to learn, but you can begin to "AUTO" and go to the "P" and go from there.

Digital Camera SLR Advice Needed?

I am shopping for a digital SLR. I am planning on getting the Canon Rebel Xti with 10.1 mp. I would also like a good lens- one that takes excellent portraits. Where the picture is so sharp you can see each eyelash kind of thing. I'd also like a telephoto lens that can get extremely sharp focus on something like a flower that you are standing right next to, or a baby's tiny little toes. Hoping for one lens that can do both the portraits and the toes. I don't have much to spend- about $1500 total including the camera that comes with the basic lens for about $800. Can someone recommend the lens that would cost about $600 that would be extremely sharp even in indoors lighting situations. I think I would like the Lseries from Canon.

For your budget, I'd suggest that you look at the the Canon 17-85 lens. One of our devoted Canon users recommended the EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM (28-135 equiv.) (April 2007-$515) as a good "walk around" lens at a good price.

Actually, I see this lens as part of a kit at B&H Photo (available through Yahoo! Shopping) for $1,180 right now, so you'd save a couple of bucks. If you just buy the body ($685), you have about $800 left for a lens and memory card, so maybe you can find an "L" lens for that kind of money. I'm not a Canon guy, but hopefully someone else will pick up on this question and give you some more guidance.

If you go to the review site mentioned above, you can find some sample images, including several portraits. Click on them to enlarge the image. It's too bad you can't view the file full-size, but you can get the idea about lens resolution. I see that the pictures were taken with a Canon 20D, which is an 8MP camera compared to the XTi's 10 MP, so I would expect the resolution to be at least as good.

You can spend a day prowling around these Canon lens review sites to see if you find something else within your budget.

if you turn your digital photos in normal photos, digital images can be stored on a USB drive?

Because I all my photos stored on computer, I deleted the ones I have on my computer from my camera. I read how you can take the memory card, but I have no picture of my memory card. How can I get pictures from my computer, printed on as normal photots to put in an album? PLEASE HELP .. And I can record images from the key computer UBS one thing to drive, and bring destiny?

You could put in a USB memory (USB drive) to have white, staples, Wal-Mart and CVS have been printed ... However, it would be cheaper in the long run to buy a good printer and print them yourself (Staples, CompUSA, Fry any computer store or electronics the printer you want.) really depends if your only printing a few photos (then just go to a place the USB flash drive) ... or if you print a lot (although for a long period of time) and then purchase a printer and photo paper.

sarting a senior portrait photography business...click to see more of my question?

I am a senior in high school and I have seen that for senior portraits it cost about $300 to $500. this type of deal only cost around $30 at walmart or costco to print a bunch of wallets, 8x10, 5x7, you name it. Photographers are making bank on a 1-2 hour photo shoot.

I would like to do senior portraits of my friends and make a little profit. I was thinking of charging $50 an hour. I am in photography, I have done it at school and in 4-H, won in photo shows, went to state and got first. I have a nice camera canon rebel digital. I don't have all the lighting equipment so I would shoot outdoors.

HOW DO I LEGALLY DO SENIOR PORTRAITS?? WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO BE LEGAL??

WHAT SHOULD I CHARGE? ANY OTHER TIPS OR ADVICE FOR ME??

Strictly speaking, there's no law that says you can't make a verbal agreement with someone to trade a service (such as photography) for money. You can say, "I'll do your senior photos for $100," and they can say "Sure" and hand you cash, and that's completely legal. But there are some things you can do to protect yourself and your customer in case of disagreement down the road.

It's pretty simple if you don't want to operate as a business. Here's my suggestion:

To make things simple, just charge a flat fee for the photo shoot, with the understanding that you will be giving them digital copies of the photos on a CD, and they can have prints made wherever they like. Write up a simple contract explaining what you will provide, what you charge, etc. Be sure to say that the customer will have full rights to the photos but that you will retain the right to use any of the photos in your portfolio, website, and ads for your photography business (thinking for the future here). If you decide to charge a flat fee, be sure to set some boundaries, such as saying you will shoot for at least an hour, but not more than 3, and maybe include some numbers of shots.

This is how my wedding photographer did it, and I was extremely happy with it.

But really, the contract isn't a huge deal if you're just doing a few of these for a relatively small amount of money.

Be sure to give yourself time to go through the photos to pick the best ones, touch them up, etc. Give them two copies of the CD, and keep your own backup.

That's about it. Be sure to report the income on your taxes.

Gadgets… love / hate - October 30, 2009 by admin

Do you enjoy the new technology at our disposal?

Just this year, I bought an iPod (using the tape and go to sleep) a plasma TV and a global positioning system for my car. Oh, and the band itself, that tells me my speed and momentum as jogging along! How did we survive all that without these high-tech gadgets? Like 'em ..... or hate them?

In my opinion the most simple life-changing technology is a mobile phone. Think about what I was getting stuck somewhere with no way to contact your family or friends to help unless you happened to be near a phone and had some changes.

Gadgets... love / hate
I have big hands, why are gadgets getting smaller?

I hate texting! I have very thick fingers. I have huge hands. Girls love my hands, I've ben told I have beautiful hands all the time. Even guys want to touch my hands, often gusy want to compare their hand-size with mine.

But why are gadgets getting smaller?? Texting on a phone is hard. Texting on a BlackBerry is even harder with all those tiny buttons.

I was stupid enough to buy a Netbook thiking it would be convinient, it wasn't. I have to carry an external keyboard with me to use the Netbook.

Why are do gadgets need to keep getting smaller?
I'm a size 32 pants size, I'm not fat.

I havbe big hands too. I thionk they just do this to annoy us. Maybe we shjould form a political action group.
