Should I give up appointments?

I've been alone all my life. I know this seems to be the history of life itself when they are geeks and nerds. I'm going wrong, I am proud to be a geek and a bit odd. But when it comes to dating, I do not know what to do, meet people or how. I have read several books on the subject, including those of children who are shy. It seems impossible, since most places where people gather frankly hate the bars and nightclubs. The social gathering that I felt at ease and enjoy the anime are conventions. I'm starting to think about giving a good idea or find a way out of town they live in. Part of me even if I do not give hope, As always my mind trying to drive me crazy lol. Since I have many friends and I did not help (it makes things worse 99% of the time and even have the same interest) I'm asking for suggestions and advice. Thank you all in advance for your help is greatly appreciated

My Mother Inpersonates Lady Gaga?

Okay, so my Grandads an Elvis impersonater so she says it's in her blood! But she wears all the costumes all the time! She wore a freaking Kermit the frog dress to my swimming meet! It's not fair! She hires herself out to teen parties where she lipsyncs the songs!
Next week is my birthday and she wants to do a show as Lady Gaga! She's gonna wear a meat dress! The reason she thinks it's okay is that every year my Grandad "surprises" me by seranading me as Elvis! But even he's smart enough to do that BEFORE the guests arrive!!!! HELP?!

I need to know how I can make sure that none of my real friends see my Mom perform, could I maybe invite the nerds, geeks and freaks I don't like to a pre party where my Mom would perform then invite all the cool kids to my house for after she sings?

Maybe I could pretend to be really unpopular and no one shows up get her to take off the outfit then my friends arrive when it's too late for her to sing?

I think you should just tell your mom the truth. Say she can seranade you another time. But I've got to admit, if my mom were able to wear a meat dress and wants to get up in front of my friends and sing lady gaga, I sure would let her. If you lie to your mom and she finds out, she'll be heart broken.
